Hands-on Activities to Promote Reading Engagement and Comprehension
NOTE: It is important to allow students to read, think, and do-- with minimal intervention from the teacher. Allow them to make mistakes and solve problems. Some open ended prompts that you can use include:
- What is your plan?
- What will you do next?
- What is working?
- Where do you think you went wrong? How can you fix it?
- Is there a part that doesn't make sense? What can you do?
- What did you notice?
- What does the text say?
